Pharell, Nicki Minaj and August Alsina were big winners at the BET awards this year. Let’s not forget Soul singer Lionel Richie was  honored for his achievements at the show. Like all awards shows the red carpet was the highlight of the evening and celebrity attendees underwhelmed more than usual this year. No surprise there actually as attendees of the BET awards always opt for shock factor rather than amaze like most award shows.

Thankfully Kerry Washington and Keke Palmer stunned in their outfits and easily stole the show.

Kerry washington and Keke Palmer clearly stole the show with these effortless looks.

Nigerian songstress Tiwa Savage clearly didn’t think this through. MISS, MISS, MISS.

Red Carpet At The 2014 Met Gala

The Met Gala, which is never an understated affair had its share of amazing, and not so good red carpet moments.  This  year’s theme inspired by couturier Charles James was white tie and decorations. Although that explained some confusing looks on the red carpet, a few still left us befuddled. Solange Knowles, who always seems to get it right was not far from underwhelming this year. Lupita, the beauty who everyone loves to obsess over left most of us scratching our heads. There comes a time when you have to be practical and honest. We have to admit Liu Wen, Sarah Jessica Parker and Karolina Kurkova wowed us with drama and intrigue. Their outfits certainly matched this years theme and message, but let’s be clear….Rihanna won.

Red Carpet At The 2014 Met Gala

Anna Wintour. Kids would probably love this confusion.

Sara Jessica Parker never seizes to amaze every Met Gala. Wearing Oscar De La Renta

No to this Michael Kors dress. I’ll wait for the day Zoe Saldana wows on a red carpet……still have faith that will happen.

Liu Wen stuns in this amazing Zac Posen dress

Solange in Philip Lim…Not her best look.

Nicole Richie. I don’t know what to say

Rihanna in Stella Mccartney……Winner

Charlize Theron slays in Dior of course.

Prom Night for Rita Ora…..

Stunning Karolina Kurkova. This is just beautiful. Among the few favorite looks of the night

Pants done right the only way Janelle can. Wearing Tadashi Shoji

Lupita in Prada…..I am not able seriously. This feather beaded mess is not what you wear to your first met gala….Leave it to Pocahontas……

The couple both in Givenchy……They probably came in from a funeral.

Erykah in Givenchy haute couture. I think she owns this look. Love it.

Boobage galore. I don’t even know but Lala is convinced she looks hot. So let’s just move on. peep Carmelo waiting in the background…..”let’s just go”

Naomi in Givenchy…..fabulousness fit for a raunchy brides maid.

The Olsen twins came from the same funeral Bey and Jay attended.

Surely Katie you haven’t read the handbook on what life should be like after Tom Cruise…..Take a Nicole Kidman class.

Kimye playing it safe….they look lovely

Ghanaian Designer Charlie Casely-Hayford

Ghanaian designer Charlie Casely-Hayford is one half of design brand Casely-Hayford.

“The young men’s wear designer Charlie Casely-Hayford has teamed with the luxury French footwear brand J.M. Weston on three styles of men’s shoes to be sold at Weston’s stores in London, Paris, and Tokyo starting in May. Styles include lace-ups in a Prince of Wales check made from velvety laser-etched leather; lace-ups with metallic leather details that riff on construction worker toe-cap boots; and quilted penny loafers.

Casely-Hayford and Michel Perry, Weston’s artistic director, first met two years ago at a dinner in London, and the idea for a collaboration was born soon after that. “I was seduced by Charlie’s approach to his collections, a blend of chic and tailored style, all with the impertinence of Shoreditch. That mix is all very close to the vision of J.M. Weston,” said Perry in an interview at the brand’s shop on Jermyn Street.

This is not Weston’s first collaboration: In the past it has worked with Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and Maison Kitsuné.

Casely-Hayford said he was interested in fusing “different worlds of rebellion” for the J.M. Weston collaboration. Prices range from 490 pounds, or $815, for the loafers to 730 pounds, or $1,214, for the limited-edition Prince of Wales lace-ups.”

Ciara’s Great Expectation For W Magazine

W magazine has a feature editorial titled Ciara’s Great Expectation. The grammy winner is expecting with fellow music star Future and she looks absolutely stunning. Sarah Leon conducted the interview and Ciara had a lot to say about her experience;

Ciara has been very public about her pregnancy. She made the announcement with Barbara Walters on “The View”; celebrated at a blue-and-white themed baby shower at which both Kim Kardashian and the paparazzi were in attendance; and has posted countless Instagram shots that have generated “like” counts in the six figures. “My mom and I don’t have a lot of photos of my early years,” she explains. “So I decided we should document everything. This is one of those moments you can’t repeat.” – Sarah Leon

Beyonce; Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People

Time Magazine has launched their 100 Most Influential People issue and you will be glad to know certain note worthy individuals like Pharell and Nigeria’s own Aliko Dangote made the list. Music star Beyonce covers the issue and her piece by Facebook COO and writer Sheryl Sandberg sort f explains why she deserves to be on the list. Time says it’s “100″ list is intended as a roundup of those who have inspired others in one way or another over the past year, regardless of moral standing.

Sheryl Sandberg titles her Beyonce profile “She’s the Boss”

Beyoncé doesn’t just sit at the table. She builds a better one. Today she sits at the head of the boardroom table at Parkwood Entertainment. In December, she took the world by surprise when she released a new album, complete with videos, and announced it on Facebook and Instagram. Beyoncé shattered music-industry rules — and sales records. One song includes words by novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie: “We say to girls, ‘You can have ambition, but not too much.’?” Beyoncé has insisted that girls “run the world” and declared, “I’m not bossy, I’m the boss.” She raises her voice both on- and offstage to urge women to be independent and lead.In the past year, Beyoncé has sold out the Mrs. Carter Show World Tour while being a full-time mother. Her secret: hard work, honesty and authenticity. And her answer to the question, What would you do if you weren’t afraid? appears to be “Watch me. I’m about to do it.” Then she adds, “You can, too.”
